Madison Vilnius annual banquet 2026

The banquet was on a nice Saturday evening. Close to fifty people gathered at the Madison Club. Beautiful amber necklaces were on display, alongside with the chatter, laughter and conversations. We were treated with well made šaltibarščiai (cold beet soup) and fresh potatoes, full entry and dessert.

The evening started with a business meeting. Milda Aksamitauskas, president of the Board, provided an overview of the past year and shared her vision for more exchanges and community events. Board members for the 2026-28 term were elected. There are also now a standing Vilnius committee and Business committee that facilitate relevant activities.

Vytis Nivinskas and Laura Budreckytė performed jazz songs, read Jonas Mekas and Kęstutis Navakas poetry and made us all dance at the end of the show. It is hard to put words that describe well the vibrations we felt during the performance. I recorded some of the songs and found myself rewatching them them again and again at home.

Here are the text of poems that were most memorable, at least to me:

If you liked the music, I recommend to follow CinAnmono Duo on social media, listen on spotify and, definitely, attend jazz concerts when you travel to Vilnius.

Lottery is a long standing tradition at the Madison Vilnius Sister Cities banquet. This year was record breaking: we had close to forty prizes and fundraised $700. Dominick and Sibilė were the biggest helpers selling the tickets and drawing the lucky numbers. Thank you to the Board members, Sigita Esthetique and AmeriPrintApparel for generous donations of prizes.

It is hard to capture all the emotions and activities of the evening. I created a short video to share the highlights.

Thank you everyone who came to the banquet. And we will see you at the next event.
